Relief For Vodafone As Top Court Orders Centre To Refund 833 Crore


New Delhi:

An order of the Bombay High Court to refund taxes to the tune of Rs 833 crore to Vodafone was upheld by the Supreme Court today.  The court dismissed the appeal by the Centre, which challenged the high court order in view of future dues. The top court said the IT Department does not have power to withhold refund in anticipation of future demands

On June 26, the High Court had asked the Centre to make the refund within 2 weeks.
