Among Us Has Rolled Out an Update to Let Players Vote Anonymously, Friendlists and Bigger Servers Coming Soon

0

Among Us developers InnerSloth have released a patch for the game that adds options for anonymous voting, among other things. The new features are available in an update that has rolled out for Android, iOS, and PCs via Steam. Other features introduced in the update include added task bar modes, new symbols for the fix wires task, and cosmetics to meeting screen. The update also fixes various bugs. InnerSloth co-founder also revealed on Twitter that the game will soon support 12-15 players per server.

Along with the updates, InnerSloth also announced a ‘small roadmap’ for the game. Among Us is expected to get accounts by December, which will let players report accounts that are hacking the game or are toxic. Players will also be able to create friendlists.

Players will be able to vote anonymously in the update for the game, where all votes will appear as grey. The new task bar modes include a meeting mode, which only updates the bar during meetings, an invisible mode which removes the task bar entirely, and the always mode which works as it currently does. The Among US update also contains a first pass on colourblind support.

InnerSloth co-founder Marcus also confirmed on Twitter that Among Us will soon support 12-15 players per server.

A new map for Among Us is currently under development, which will contain new tasks, and will be bigger than the current Polus Map. The new map will be free for all players, and is “Henry Stickmin themed,” which is an older series of games by the same creators.

While the popular game has a few language translations available currently, the developers also revealed that they were planning on getting professional translations into multiple languages.

WhatsApp Starts Rolling Out Redesigned Storage Management Tool to Delete Junk Messages

0

WhatsApp is rolling out a redesigned storage management tool to remove junk messages. This tool was spotted online earlier this year. The new storage management tool helps WhatsApp users easily identify, review, and bulk delete content to free up storage capacity on their phones. The tool also makes it easier to spot and delete unnecessary files that were forwarded or shared multiple times using the instant messaging app. The redesigned storage management tool rolling out for WhatsApp users worldwide this week will also offer various cleanup suggestions.

How to use WhatsApp storage management tool

Once the tool is rolled out to your phone, you can access the redesigned storage management tool by going in Settings > Storage and data > Manage storage on WhatsApp.

Previously, WhatsApp was listing only chats under the ‘Storage Usage’ section through which users could free up some space on their phones. The new change, however, revamps that experience by providing an all-new interface with a dedicated bar to show how much storage is being consumed by WhatsApp media content, alongside other apps. There is also a dedicated option to view media files that are forwarded many times through the app. This helps to easily spot and clean up unnecessary forwarded files.

The redesigned storage management tool also lists files that are larger than 5MB in size. Further, you’ll get the ability to sort files by size and preview them before deleting. The redesigning retains the existing chats list from where you can spot the threads that are consuming more storage.

Additionally, WhatsApp has provided a way to notify users directly through a message on top of their chats when their storage space is almost full. Users can tap that message to quickly access the redesigned storage management tool.

Initial signs of the redesigned storage management tool were seen in June when WhatsApp was spotted adding specific options to delete large files as well as forwarded content. However, the Facebook-owned company was seen adding further updates to the ‘Storage Usage’ section in August. The redesigned storage management tool also reached WhatsApp beta for final testing in late September.

Since WhatsApp isn’t limited to high-end or mid-range smartphones with more storage and is being used on even entry-level devices, the new update is likely to help resolve storage issues for the masses. It may also help the app retain its userbase as some users often complain that it results in performance issues on their phones — chiefly impacting their phones’ internal storage.

Panna, Madhya Pradesh:

Two labourers became rich after they unearthed two diamonds weighing 7.44 and 14.98 carats at mines in Madhya Pradesh’s Panna district, an official said on Tuesday.

Dilip Mistry extracted the 7.44 carat stone from a mine in Jaruapur, while Lakhan Yadav mined a 14.98 carat one in Krishna Kalyanpur area, diamond inspector Anupam Singh said.

The stones were deposited at the diamond office on Monday and will be auctioned, the official said, adding that the labourers would get the proceeds after a deduction of 12.5 per cent royalty.

While the exact value of the diamonds will be decided by the authorities, the stone weighing 7.44 carat will fetch around Rs 30 lakh and the bigger one will fetch double the amount, he said.

Meanwhile, both labourers were thrilled about their discovery.

For Lakhan Yadav, who is a small farmer with a two-acre land, this is a first diamond extraction. “I will use the money from the proceeds to educate my children,” he said.

Dilip Mistry said, “I am a part of a group of four persons and we have been working hard to extract diamonds on our private land for the last six months. By the grace of God, I have got this good quality diamond for the first time.

Panna, located in the backward region of Bundelkhand, is famous for its diamond mines.

Ayushmann Khurrana checks into hotel despite shooting in hometown Chandigarh

Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana, who is busy shooting his next film in hometown Chandigarh, is not staying with his family. Rather, he has checked into a hotel. Ayushmann, who is shooting for Abhishek Kapoor’s “Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui”, co-starring Vaani Kapoor, in his hometown, cites the Covid pandemic as the reason for his decision.

“I have been extremely cautious through the pandemic and taken every possible step not to catch the virus and protect my family. My wife and my two young kids can never come in harm’s way because of me,” Ayushmann said.

He added: “With me starting to work, our parents in Chandigarh too should be safe at all times. I want to contribute to restart the industry but I also want to safeguard my family from the virus.”

The actor along with the entire production team has checked into a hotel.

“We are all staying there till the end of the shoot. Whenever I go to meet my family now, we are maintaining social distance and also wearing masks. It feels odd but it is an important security step,” Ayushmann said.

The actor admits that he is missing spending time with his family.

“I’m also getting tested at regular intervals through the shoot. Staying at a hotel helps protect my family as well as the crew members, because we have all tried to create a bio-bubble. Once the shoot is complete, I will catch up on lost time with my family,” he said.

Ayushmann credits Abhishek Kapoor and his wife, besides the production crew’s supervision for keeping the virus at bay on the sets.

Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh to protest in Delhi after President Ram Nath Kovind refuses meeting over farm laws

0

Punjab’s protest against the new, contentious farm laws are set to play out at Delhi’s Raj Ghat — the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi — tomorrow. The protest has been planned by Chief Minister Amarinder Singh after President Ram Nath Kovind turned down his request for a meeting.

The decision to meet the President came as the Centre stopped trains to Punjab, citing “rail roko” protests against the farm laws, which is interfering with the supply of essential commodities to the state.

Farmers in the state, however, have scaled down their protests after the state assembly  passed a law to block the Centre’s farm laws on October 19. Train services have not been stopped since and  farmers have moved their protest away from railway tracks.

Kanjur Marg Land For New Mumbai Metro Car-Shed Belongs To Us, Centre Now Writes To Maharashtra

0

In October, Maharashtra announced shifting the car-shed from Aarey to Kanjur Marg.

Mumbai:

The political war between Maharashtra and the Central government over the site of a Metro car-shed refuses to die down. Now the Union government’s Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has sent out a letter to the state asking it to restrain the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) from carrying out any work at the Kanjur Marg location.

The letter, addressed to Maharashtra Chief Secretary Sanjay Kumar, says the land belongs to the Government of India and will be “against the interest of GOI”.

It further states, “The improper and unilateral action of the Collector, MSD, and MMRDA has caused severe loss to the DPIIT, Government of India. I would request you to direct the Collector to withdraw the orders passed in this regard in order to protect the interests of the Government of India.”

The letter contradicts what the Maharashtra government and Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray have been saying: That The Kanjur Marg plot belongs to the state of Maharashtra. It claims to belong to salt pan land thus escalating the war of words between the Centre and the state.

In early October, CM Thackeray announced that the Metro car-shed would be shifted from the contentious Aarey plot to Kanjur Marg, which belongs to state government, at zero cost.

However, the leader of opposition and ex-CM, Devendra Fadnavis, claims this shift will lead to a cost escalation and delays. He also claimed the Kanjur Marg land is mushy land and not fit for the Metro car-shed.

NDTV sent out a message to the Chief Secretary of Maharashtra to know what steps the state will take now and whether it has replied to DPIIT’s letter. But the CS has not yet replied at the time of publishing.

Reacting to the developments, BJP leader Ram Kadam says, “Shifting the car-shed from Aarey to Kanjur Marg will cost over Rs 4,000 crore. Whose money it is? It is the money of common people and taxpayers of our country. It is just because of the ego that the Uddhav Thackeray government is doing all this.”

LG Rollable Smartphone ‘Project B’ With a Side-Rolling Display Expected to Launch Next Year: Reports

0

LG’s rumoured “Project B” smartphone with a rollable display is expected to launch in March 2021, a new report suggests. A render of the phone has also surfaced which shows a rollable display that can be extended from either side of the phone. The render is based on a patent filed by LG for a phone with a “flexible display” that can be rolled into its casing. The patent was filed with USPO (United States Patent and Trademark Office) in August 2019 and has now been published. This is expected to be the second smartphone under LG’s “Explorer Project” after the South Korean company launched the dual-screen LG Wing with a swivel main display last month.

“Project B” was earlier reported to have been gone into production to prepare for launch data in the second half of 2021. But a new report by TheElec now estimates that the launch will be in March 2021.

The render of the “Project B” phone created by LetsGoDigital is based on a patent filed by LG for a “’slidably-movable” mobile terminal, which has now been included in the WIPO (World Intellectual Property Office) database. The render imagines the phone to be the size of a regular smartphone in its most compact form with a display that increases by 100 percent when the screen is pulled out from both the left and the right side of the device when it is held vertically. This means that the user is also likely to have the option to pull out the screen from only one side and achieve a display size that sits somewhere between a smartphone and a tablet.

The “Project B”, said to have been codenamed after LG CEO Kwon Bong-seok, is likely to have an OLED display that can be partially rolled into a metal housing. The report says that LG will also install a “sidelock” that prevents the screen from rolling in or out unintentionally, or even too quickly, that could cause the display to develop creases.

LG is reportedly working on another phone codenamed “Rainbow” which is also expected to launch in the first quarter of next year. TheElec report speculates that its specifications will be similar to LG’s V series that includes the LG V40, V50, and V60 ThinQ phones launched last year.
