Brimming With Vitamin C, This Amla Ki Sabzi Is Perfect For Winter Immunity Diet

Amla, Indian Gooseberry, is one of the best foods you can pick this winter. Amla has long been revered for its immense immunity-boosting properties. It is packed with vitamin C, antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties, making it an ideal food to have to stay away from seasonal cold, cough and flus. While amla is full of nutrients, it is also full of pungent, bitter flavours. Not many can take to its taste; that’s why it is usually mixed with other foods to make more palatable chutney, pickle, murabba etc. 

If you have all of these amla dishes at home lying idle in your kitchen, you must try this unique amla recipe. Indian-style sabzi made with amla is sure to get your fingers licking. The khatti-meethi amla sabzi with a bagful of flavours from different spices and sweetness of jaggery presents amla in its best form to you. Here’s how you can make amla ki sabzi at home.

Step-By-Step Amla Ki Sabzi Recipe:

Ingredients –

‘250 gms amla
2-3 green chillies
A pinch of asafoetida (Hing)
Half tsp cumin Seeds
Half tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp garlic, crushed
1 tsp fennel seeds (saunf), crushed
1 tsp coriander seeds, crushed
2 tsp jaggery, crushed
Salt to taste
Red chilli powder to taste

Method –

Step 1 – Heat oil in a pan. Add asafoetida. When it starts to crackle, add cumin seeds.
Step 2 – When cumin seeds change colour, add green chillies and garlic. Add amla and saute it for 2 minutes.
Step 3 – Add salt, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, fennel and powder. Let it cook for another 2-3 minutes.
Step 4 – Add jaggery and some water. Cover the pan and let everything cook for about 5 minutes.

Garnish this sweet and sour amla sabzi with some coriander leaves and serve with your Indian meal.
