Kolkata:
Trinamool Congress’s rebel leader Suvendu Adhikari quit from Bengal’s legislative assembly today, sending his resignation to the Speaker.
Last month, Mr Adhikari had stepped down from his post in Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s cabinet.
Amid speculation that he might change camp and join the BJP, the Trinamool had rushed poll strategist Prashant Kishor and senior leader Sougata Roy to reason with him.
Mr Adhikari wields considerable influence over the local party leaders in Malda, Murshidabad, Purulia, Bankura and West Midnapore, where he was the party in-charge.
