Mushfiqur Rahim mentioned his failure to get Bangladesh over the line against India at the 2016 T20 World Cup as one of the biggest disappointments of his life.

Veteran Bangladesh batsman Mushfiqur Rahim on Tuesday revealed that his team’s 1-run defeat against India in the 2016 T20 World Cup in Bangalore remains one of his biggest disappointments.
India had snatched victory from the jaws of defeat against Bangladesh at the M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bangalore in the ICC World Twenty20 2016. In a low-scoring thriller, Bangladesh were left with two runs for victory with three balls remaining with Rahim himself on strike.
With 11 needed off the final over, Bangladesh batsmen Mushfiqur and Mahmudullah Riyad got out in successive deliveries to virtually ‘gift’ India a one-run win. Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya held their nerves and bowled tidy overs at the death to help India cross the line.
“The other disappointments have been the World T20 match against India (Bangalore, 2016) and the second ODI against the West Indies (Guyana 2018). If we had won that ODI we would have won the series – although we won the next match, if we could have won that (second game) it would have been a white-wash,” Mushfiqur Rahim told cricbuzz.
Mushfiqur Rahim also revealed that he does not believe that playing in the IPL is bigger than representing his own country at the international level and holds no regret for not being able to play in the cash rich league. However, Mushfiqur Rahim still praised IPL for its international presence and described it as “one of the biggest” T20 leagues in the world.
“No, I don’t have any regrets. I don’t think that playing the IPL can be bigger than representing my country. I think IPL is definitely one of the biggest T20 leagues in the world and all the top-class players of the world play there. So I would’ve considered myself fortunate enough to play in such a tournament. I could definitely take my game to a higher level, sharing the dressing room with legends. If I get an opportunity then, of course, I’ll play. And if I don’t get then honestly, I will never regret it,” Mushfiqur added.
