Amritsari naan is not the only popular dish that comes from the religious Punjabi city of Amritsar; in fact, non-vegetarian foods are a specialty of their cuisine. Chicken, mutton or fish – the traditional meals made in Amritsar are characteristic of the city’s rich, deep-rooted culture. You may have tried fish in various forms – steamed, fried or grilled, but Amritsari fish stands out with a barrage of flavours and spices that typical Punjabi food is known for. DHABA restaurant in Delhi, which has been serving us authentic north-Indian food for years now, shared its special Amritsari fish recipe by their chef Ravi Saxena.

The recipe uses king fish to make this hearty dish. King fish is marinated in thick curd mixed with some flavourful Indian spices, and then fried till golden brown. It is garnished with coriander leaves and is best served with lemon wedges, chutney and onions on the side.

Amritsari fish puts forth a complexity of different flavours and rich texture, yet is so easy to make. You have to try this fish recipe of DHABA restaurant to see it for yourself.

Amritsari Fish Recipe –

Ingredients:

300 gm King Fish, cut into pieces

2 tbsp thick curd

1 tsp cumin powder

1 tsp chili powder

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

1 tbsp ginger garlic paste

1 tbsp oil

Slice of lemon

Salt to taste

Method:

1. Marinate the pieces of fishes with thick curd, chili powder, ginger garlic paste, turmeric powder.

2. In a pan, heat oil. Place the marinated pieces of fish into the pan and saute on each side for 5 minutes.

3. Take it out onto the plate.

4. Garnish with fresh coriander.

5. Serve it with green chutney and a slice of lemon on the side.
