Used to copy Anil Kumble’s action as a child, his personality is amazing: Sandeep Lamichhane

Nepal’s 19-year-old spin sensation Sandeep Lamichhane has revealed that he is a fan of India legend Sandeep Lamichhane. In a Twitter Question and Answer session a user asked Lamichhane to reveal the name of the bowler whose bowling action he used to copy in his childhood days.

Sandeep, who represents Delhi Capitals in the IPL, said that Anil Kumble was the one he would copy. The Syangja-born called Kumble an “amazing personality” and added that he has a great cricketing brain.

Sandeep Lamichhane’s admiration for Test cricket’s third-highest wicket-taker is understandable because like Kumble he too is a leg-spinner. Moreover, Kumble was a natural leader, who led India a memorable victory over Australia in Perth in 2008.

Further, Sandeep Lamichhane was asked about his feeling when he took the wicket of Pakistan limited-overs captain Babar Azam in Pakistan Super League. Lamichhane had foxed Babar Azam on a loopy googly and clean bowled the number 1 ranked T20I batsman.

Lamichanne said the feeling of getting Babar’s wicket was amazing. Praising Babar Azam Sandeep Lamichhane called him the pride of Pakistan.

The next question for him was about India opener Rohit Sharma. He was to describe the Indian vice-captain in word but everybody know’s that one word is not sufficient for Rohit.

Citing the records of the swashbuckling Mumbai batsman, Sandeep Lamichhane called Rohit Sharma a “class” player. He went on to tell that Rohit was amongst the best openers of Indis.

During the Question and Answer it was also revealed that Sandeep Lamichhane adores and respects the Indian genius Sachin Tendulkar. He said that he would have loved bowling to Sachin Tendulkar. Lamicahhane added that his list of his favourite players was long but if he had to select the best ones, it would be Shane Warne and Sachin Tendulkar.

Talking about Sandeep Lamichhane very young career, the spinner has represented Nepal in 10 ODIs and 21 T20Is. He has scalped 23 and 34 wickets in the formats, respectively. But it is the T20 leagues across the world which has made him famous. The teenager has showcased his skills in all the major leagues of the world including Indian Premier League (IPL), Big Bash League (BBL), Pakistan Super League (PSL) Carribean Premier League.

The 19-year-old has played 77 T20 matches till date and scalped as many as 105 wickets in them.
