Former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Ajit Jogi has passed away at the age of 74. The announcement of his demise was made by his son Amit Jogi on Twitter. On Friday, Ajit Jogi had suffered two cardiac arrests after which doctors said his health was “extremely critical”. He was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Raipur after suffering a cardiac arrest at his home in Chhattisgarh on May 9.

Ajit Jogi was the first chief minister of Chhattisgarh. He served as the CM from November 2000 to November 2003. In 2016, he parted ways with the Congress and went on to form the Janata Congress Chhattisgarh.
