Sachin Tendulkar played his 200th Test and final match of his illustrious career against the West Indies at his home ground – the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai – between November 14-16 in 2013.

Tendulkar scored 74 in his final innings as a professional cricketer, after getting a guard of honour from the Windies players and the two umpires present on the field when he came out to bat.

India won the game by an innings and 126 runs after which Tendulkar gave his famous retirement speech which left all of those watching teary eyed.

Even some of the West Indies players were choking up as Tendulkar took the field for the final time.

West Indies all-rounder Kirk Edwards revealed that he and star opener Chris Gayle found it hard to hold back their tears knowing that it was the final time Tendulkar would be seen on a cricket field.

“For the 200th Test match, I was there. It was very emotional for me as well. I had my shades on. I was next to Gayle as well.

“Both of us were sniffing (tearing up). We tried to not let waterfall out of our eyes. It was a very touching moment. Knowing that you’re never gonna see this guy in the park again playing cricket,” Edwards told Crictracker.

Tendulkar retired on November 16 after having made his debut for India on November 15 in 1989 against Pakistan in Karachi as a 16-year-old.

He went on to play a record 200 Tests, 463 ODIs and a T20 game for India, amassing 15921 runs in the longest format and 18426 runs in 50-overs cricket, both of which are world records.

He also holds the staggering record for scoring 100 international hundreds in Tests and ODIs combined – 51 and 49 respectively.
