Afghanistan wicketkeeper Afsar Zazai suffers head injury in car accident


Afsar Zazai has played a solitary Test and T20I match while 17 ODIs for Afghanistan. He was also among the eleven cricketers to play in Afghanistan’s maiden Test against India.

Afghanistan wicketkeeper-batsman Afsar Zazai survived a horrific car accident suffering minor head injuries on Saturday.

The news of the car accident was broken by a local journalist and former media manager of Afghanistan cricket board M Ibrahim Momand. In a Twitter post, the journalist informed that Afsar did not suffer any serious injuries, however, his car was totally damaged.

In a picture shared on the same post, Afsar was with a bandage around his head.

Afsar Zazai has played a solitary Test and T20I match while 17 ODIs for Afghanistan. He was also among the eleven cricketers to play in Afghanistan’s maiden Test against India.

Asar made his international debut in a T20I against Kenya in 2013 and played his last ODI last year against West Indies.

A series of top Afghan players, including the likes of Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi have resumed training at the Kabul Cricket Stadium after cricketing actitvities were suspended due to the Covid-19 crisis.

The players are part of a month-long training camp which will focus on strengthening batting, bowling and overall performance of the team.
