The very thought of guava, with red chilli powder and black salt sprinkled on it, takes everyone back to their childhood. It is one such fruit that is available extensively across the country. Besides its delightful taste, what adds on to the popularity is the pool of health benefiting properties of guava. This fruit is a storehouse of nutrients and does wonders for overall health. But did you know even the leaves of this fruit are great for your well-being? Yes, you heard it right. Young guava leaves have been a part of traditional medical practice since centuries. As per Delhi-based nutritionist Anshul Jaibharat, “They are enriched with antioxidants, vitamin C, and flavonoids such as quercetin.”

Health Benefits Of Guava Leaves:

As per health experts, guava leaves extract inhibits diarrhoea-causing bacteria. It is also known to have anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory effects. Moreover, guava leaves help manage diabetes and promote gut health.

“It helps boost the immune system and reduces the risks of various types of illnesses,” says Bangalore-based Nutritionist Dr. Anju Sood. This further helps protect us known seasonal cold and flu and more.

Guava Leaf Chutney Recipe For Immunity:

Keeping this in mind, we bring you a guava leaf chutney recipe that can be a healthy addition to your winter diet to strengthen the immunity system. All you need for the recipe are- guava leaves, jaggery, lime juice, green chilli, black salt and coriander leaves. Let’s find out the recipe!

Here’s The Recipe For Guava Leaf Chutney:

Ingredients:

Guava leaves- 6-8

Coriander leaves- half cup

Jaggery- one-fourth cup

Black salt- as per taste

Lime juice- 1-2 tablespoon

Green chilli- 2-3

Method:

Wash the guava leaves and grind it on a grinding stone with coriander leaves, green chilli and black salt. Keep aside.

Boil some water and add jaggery to it. Let it melt.

Now mix the guava leaf paste with jaggery syrup and some lime juice.

Keep the chutney in an airtight jar for 3-4 days.
