“I understand Lockdown has made people mentally unstable!”– this came from wife of legendary Indian cricketer MS Dhoni, three minutes before the midnight yesterday. Sakshi Dhoni was irked on the repetitive speculations and rumours about the cricketing future of his husband. Later, Sakshi deleted the tweet which she never should have, if these ‘Twitter experts and pundits’ are so blatant with their completely irrational views then she has all the rights in the world to defend these ugly rumours which must not be creating a good atmosphere in her house.

Now, unstable is a person who has no fixed patterns, he is capable of changing stances and sometimes becomes hysterical. Twitter has its own share of instability. #DhoniRetitres was trending yesterday, things got changed in few hours and now it’s the the turn of #DhoniNeverTires to trend. How bizarre is it? This is a certain case of instability. Period.

Fans, cricketers and experts are going berserk talking about the future of India’s most successful question, everyone has their own version or actually the same version with different narratives. It’s beating around the bush and it’s useless. The best answer to the question was given by former India pacer Ajit Agarkar, we need more experts like him.
“If someone is not playing cricket then there is no point giving opinion on them or discussing about. I know people discuss about Dhoni because he has not retired and he has not playing also,” Agarkar had recently said.
It’s easy to frame a question relating to Dhoni’s future, it’s even more easier to answer it and get into the news. Dhoni was gearing up for IPL, his Chennai Super Kings (CSK) teammates said that he was showing the exuberance of youth during the practice sessions but the pandemic led to change in plans. It’s same for everyone, so why all the speculations and rumours for him? How can one just go on and on talking about his retirement. Thanks God for the democracy in India or else people would have forced him out of his house during this lockdown and made him utter the ‘secret’ about his cricketing future.
Anyways, MS Dhoni after being victim of a trending rumour on Wednesday got reprieve from Twitter users on Thursday as #DhoniNeverTires started trending in support of the Ranchi-born. Fans tweeted in numbers and shared anecdotes, facts, records, videos and pictures of their ‘Thala’ and showered their love on the 38-year-old.
We, hope that this will put a smile on the face of Dhoni and his family. MS Dhoni last represented India in a World Cup semifinal match, when the time will come he might again represent India or he may not. It’s his life and future and he has been the captain for all of us. It’s time to leave the captain alone, it’s time we give him the ‘freedom of speech’ we keep talking about and likewise, it’s time we think about his mental health, another issue which we keep on talking about vociferously.
