India tour of Australia 2020-21 schedule, venues confirmed: T20I series from October 11, Tests from December 3

Cricket Australia (CA) on Thursday confirmed its international fixtures for the 2020-21 season which involves 3 T20Is, 4 Tests and 3 ODIs against India men’s cricket team between October 11 and January 17.

Cricket Australia announced the fixtures after saying it is confident of hosting a safe and successful summer which promises to thrill cricket fans across the globe who are starved of live action due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The anticipated arrival of superpower India to play the Australian men’s teams across all formats, as well as the return of Australia’s all-conquering women’s team, are among the highlights scheduled for this summer,” the CA release said.

3 ODIs, 4 Tests and 3 T20Is

India will begin their tour of Australia in October as they are scheduled to play a 3-match T20I series between October 11 and 17.

The much-anticipated 4-Test series will kickstart from December 3, as reported by India Today on Wednesday. Brisbane will host the series opener while Adelaide will host the 2nd Test, which will be a day-night affair with the pink balll.

Melbourne and Sydney will, as usual, host the Boxing Day and the New Year’s Test.

India will then play a 3-match ODI series from January 12 to 17.

It remains to be seen if India will stay in Australia after the T20I series, given there is uncertainty surrounding the T20 World Cup which is scheduled from October 18 to November 15.

Cricket Australia CEO Kevin Roberts said there might be changes in the schedule announced on Thursday, considering the Covid-19 pandemic.

‘We are working closely with the BCCI’

“We are working closely with the BCCI to deliver the eagerly anticipated men’s and women’s tours, and we are looking forward to staging the important series against both the men’s and women’s New Zealand sides. These are in addition to the scheduled men’s Test against Afghanistan and a T20 series against West Indies.
