Street foods are an integral part of Indian cuisine. You get a variety of snacks and small meals at snack stalls, carts and roadside dhabas. For chicken lovers, there’s nothing like tawa chicken masala that you largely get at these tiny eateries. Just like any other street food, tawa chicken masala is big on flavours and spiciness, making it one of the best pocket-friendly, filling meals you can get on the streets. Usually paired with roomali roti or naan or tandoori roti, tawa chicken masala is just what you need to cook at home to bring back all the memories of your foodie outings before lockdown.

Local eateries and dhabas use large thick iron griddle to make tawa chicken masala. Chicken is roasted and coated with full-of-spices onion-tomato masala, all done on one pan. If you have a thick-bottomed cast iron tawa at home, you can easily make this spicy chicken dish with the right recipe.
