Twitter has placed a public interest notice on a tweet posted by US President Donald Trump, warning users that the post glorifies violence. The tweet was about the protests in US city of Minneapolis, which have emerged in the wake of an unarmed black man’s death. The latest move by the microblogging site comes just after Trump escalated his war on Twitter and other social media companies by signing an executive order in the US, challenging the lawsuit protections. Earlier this week, Twitter also added a warning to two of Trump’s recent tweets that deemed mail-in ballots “fraudulent”.
“…These THUGS are dishonoring the memory of George Floyd, and I won’t let that happen. Just spoke to Governor Tim Walz and told him that the Military is with him all the way. Any difficulty and we will assume control but, when the looting starts, the shooting starts. Thank you!” Trump’s tweet read.
Twitter added that it may be in the public’s interest for the tweet to remain accessible.
